Officials of Uganda Embassy in Tokyo flagging off Ugandans who have been stranded in Japan due to COVID-19 pandemic. The Mission also made arrangements for stranded Ugandans in its other area of accreditation (Republic of Korea) to be put onboard.

Following the announcement by the Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Abe Shinzo, to lift the State of Emergency in Japan starting 26th May 2020, this is to inform that the Embassy will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs as a protective measure against the prevailing Corona virus (COVID-19) health threat, and until communicated otherwise.

EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE UGANDA EMBASSY TOKYO-JAPAN DUE TO EXTENSION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY BY THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN

Monday, 4th May 2020

On 4th May 2020, the Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Abe Shinzo, has decided to extend the State of Emergency in Japan up to 31st May 2020 due to continued large occurrence of COVID-19 infections in different parts of Japan, majorly in Tokyo.

In view of the foregoing, this is to inform that the Embassy will extend its interim closure of the Chancery to the same date of 31st May 2020.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE UGANDA EMBASSY-TOKYO, JAPAN

On 7th April 2020, the Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Abe Shinzo, declared a State of Emergency for one month until Wednesday, 6th May 2020 in the seven majory COVID-19 affected areas of Japan including Tokyo prefecture. This special measure is intended to curb the daily increasing numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases in these areas and to prevent its further spread countrywide.

In view of the foregoing, this is to inform that the Embassy will temporary close for the above stated interim period until Wednesday, 6th May 2020.

ADVISORY TO UGANDA TRAVEL TRADE ON CORONA VIRUS BY THE UGANDA TOURISM BOARD (UTB)

Kindly note that this is a travel advisory and NOT a travel ban.

"It is therefore the recommendation and encouragement of the Uganda Tourism Board that intended travelers to Uganda from the affected countries maintain their bookings but delay their travel until a later date when the disease is globally contained no longer considered an outbreak."
