Minamiashigara City of Japan Donates a Fire Fighting Truck to the Uganda Police Force

Minamiashigara City of Japan donated a Fire Fighting Truck to the Uganda Police Force to support the people of Uganda in prevention of fire incidences in the country.  This donation has been an effort of AIMEC (Association of International Music Exchange for Children) who requested for it from the City Authority. 

The City Authority in conjunction with AIMEC executive organized the handover ceremony on 10th December 2017 at the Minamiashigara City Office.  H.E. Ambassador Betty Grace Akech-Okullo received the truck on behalf of the Government of Uganda and extended appreciation to the Donating City and AIMEC for their effort and commitment to acquire this Truck and for offering to ship it to the Port of Mombasa. 

The handover ceremony which was hosted by the Mayor of Minamiashigara City, Mr. Kato Shugei, was witnessed by among others, high level leadership of the city which also included two Members of Parliament.

The replica key was handed over to the Ambassador by the Mayor of Minamiashigara City.  In his speech, the Mayor informed us that the donation of this truck to the people of Uganda was a sign of his desire for the establishment of the people to people relations of the two countries from which further bilateral relations could develop. The Ambassador also made a presentation introducing Uganda as a tourism destination. After the presentation many Japanese including the Mayor were interested in visiting the country at one time.

The Uganda Police Force received the donated fire fighting truck from Minamiashigara City of Japan through the Executives of AIMEC in a handover ceremony held on 6th March 2018 in Kampala, Uganda.  This event was also attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda (H.E. Kazuaki Kameda) and co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Diaspora/Protocol Departments) in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force.
