The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda celebrated the 54th Anniversary of Ugandan Independence through a reception held in Hotel Okura on 9th October 2016.
Ugandan arts and crafts and tourist spots were showcased during the event together with Ugandan products imported by Japanese companies such as cotton from Smiley Earth, dried fruits from Far East and coffee from Crystal Coffee. Guests were also able to enjoy the taste of Ugandan coffee, tea and waragi which were served during the event.
The Uganda Diaspora Japan (UDJ) was also launched during the event. UDJ is a non-profit organization, fully registered with the Government of Japan and was formed mainly to promote the well-being of Ugandans in Japan as well as to strengthen the relationship between Ugandans, Japanese and well-wishers, and harness the Diaspora's potential to contribute to Uganda's National Development Agenda.
